3 pointsSit rep: The color of the small river and the Themse in London area does not really fit. Thatswhy i'm reworking the small rivers to give them a dark, more natural looking color. Screenshot is showing a WIP old (light blue) and new color (dark) of small rivers. after repainting the small river tile looks more european than before. I decided to make the small river tile as JPG, instead TGA. A JPG tile has a size of around 300 kb, a TGA has 4.097 kb. The workload for the computer was to high, so that it could happen, that during dogfight with many planes the fps rate dropped significantly. With JPG it does not happen.

2 pointsUsing VonS' method, I discovered my problem. It was caused by a file called 'InlineExhaustEffect' in my Effects Folder. When I removed it, I got my exhaust smoke back. Additionally, my trial-and-error has brought home to me that TK's stock effects are quite good in themselves. Thanks to everyone on the thread. It has been a great learning experience. Mick.

2 pointsMany thanks for All. The problem is over after adding the line from Wrench's post : [ExhaustMaterial] EffectShaderName=effectLightLevel.fx DepthBufferCheck=TRUE DepthBufferWrite=FALSE ... etc...

2 points@mue I actually noticed that when I was fiddling around. Then I was able to view the F-4 above. Also made this! This is just a camo repaint of the F-100G mod because I thought a plane like this would be more suited for merc work. Progress!!!!!!!!!!!!

1 pointIt is from TK's Campaign Customizer DLC. It was included in one of SF2's expansions, IIRC. I used Mue's CatExtractor to find it. My SF2WOW menu mod includes a new, custom one. Of course, if you do not have the DLC or expansion with said screen, you won't be able to access it. EDIT: it's inside DLCData011.DLC archive, Mue's CAT extractor can open it.

1 pointI used to run a three 1200xsomthing monitor rig, I loved it. Then I ran a 55in 4k Sony TV (in 1080p mode when gaming) due my moving and losing my game room. That was pretty awesome as well. I had to dial back the contrast and brightness (alot) as it was burning my eyes out sitting so close to screen. Then, due to complaints about my hogging the TV, I went out and bought 42in Samsung 1080p series 5 TV on sale for $180...not the Sony Bravia or computer monitor quality, but it does the job well and it doesn't feel like the Samsung is out to blind me. My goal is to go back to a three wide screen monitor set at some point. 32in, 1080p, running at min 60fps..the concern is if my 1080TI can handle that... Go big, Go Fast and/or Go Home!

1 pointRuss, as Yakarov alluded two - there's basically two scenarios. One in which the gauge reflection is painted on and remains static and constant no matter what type of lighting hits it. It absolutely looks cool though. Another technique is to use a very high specular setting (white) on the glass dials and that will definitely allow the lighting to more dynamically (and realistically) interact - but man it will take a long time and experimentation to get it just right.

1 pointThe LODViewer can read the LODs directly from the CAT files. For this you have to set the SF2 install directory and enable CAT file access under Settings->CAT File Access. If you open an aircraft.ini file with the LODViewer and it didn't find the lod file in the same directory then it tries to load the lod file from the CAT files.

1 pointThanks guys. I needed to free up a monitor for somewhere else in the home so I went for the safe 'middle-ground' option of a 2k monitor (2560 x 1440) and it's all working fine.
