7 pointsThis is just to get my hand familiar with creating an airplane after making the TB2, I found this tutorial and I decided to take it to gain some experience as making airplanes and jets its different than making ground objects, as there some techniques that I needed to understand and to find the best way to do it. So this is the result of working for 3 hours today. Not bad if I may say so.

7 pointsLike everyone else who responded, I would also like a new Flanders terrain. I still play FE Gold on a regular basis. I have FE 2, but I rarely use it. I have been working on some airfield terrain objects, I will upload them when they're finished.

6 pointsTrouble is....time. I'm able to improve something existing with the my given time. If we think more 'globally' then we discuss (as example and not conclusive list): Seasonal tiles, better vegetation per season, new TODs, elevation maps, facilities, such as ports, train stations, big cities, which in turn would need new/additional objects like buildings, POIs, etc....uffff. Bottom line: Basically everything is feasable but time is an issue (mind you ...still have a job and a family to feed ) OTOH just thinkered with one tile, one airfiled and a bit with the vegetation...for the moment I'm quite pleased

3 pointsThought I'd post a few more pics. here - using a generic, early MS G stand-in for the Bleriot - but have now flown the FM through a full, brief mission, patrolling around the Suez Canal (March 1915) - brief comments below, with pics. Von S Flight mates can keep up with you - I have given the "cover me" command prior to the pic. below, and it works well Doing a wide turn back across the canal as we pass 1300 m alt. Flight mate responds well to signal to go and land (recommended is not to give this signal below about 600-700 m alt., since the FM is for early war aircraft and pushes FE2 AI to its limits - with enough alt., the AI has enough time to prepare nicely to land the Bleriot) Almost at 2000 m alt. (took the entire patrol to get to that alt. - but is exciting to get that high in a Bleriot), as I do a wide turn from the other direction, and head to land at our field After landing, I did another couple of experiments (have read reports of Bleriots stalling and crashing after takeoff, after engine failure, and if the pilot was attempting a turn at too sharp an angle) - so I did just that, took off, flew a bit, and then turned off the engine as I was in a slightly steep turn, and climb - results in a strange stall that resembles a leaf falling And, depending on the physics that is at work during the stall, you may suffer structural compromise

3 pointsFE2 has been continuously on my HD and gets more play than any other game I own. I would be extremely interested in any revamp of the Flanders terrain. If it's half as good your other work it will be outstanding.

3 pointsI swear! i swear! i was just researching on how the retraction of the landing gear worked and one thing lead to another, i am innocent!!! Please pardon the mess, this is just a Franken Flanker, ALL IS A WIP... I want also to point out that in no way i am not a 3D modeller in no way, all i do is get planes from free sites (i have the links where i got them) and adapt everything (hence fore this is a Franken Flanker) where i think it´s close to the real plane, all i do is a few things as pylons, afterburners and all small stuff... All of this is the result of constant asking to @logan4 about modelling tips and techniques (and why not, some self learned tips too). Hope the results will be of benefit to all of us. Merry Christmas and let´s hope the coming year will be filled with health and some cute models!!!

2 pointsHi Folks (however still reads this) Inspired by the wonderful Triplane and the Halberstadt CL.II I've recently restarted FE. By sheer coincidence and curiosity I downloaded the 'old' Flanders terrain from Edward (who still remembers...LOL). I've to say this terrain is good...good basis for further enhancements! Now my two questions: 1. Are you still playing from time to time FE? Still enjoying? 2. If the above mentioned terrain would get a complete rewamp would you use it? No channel (water), 1:1 size - e.g. just a portion of flanders, but with more details, etc. I would honestly do it, but it's a huge project....sooo thinking twice cheers and let me know your thoughts gt
-
2 pointsEdward originally did a great job on this terrain. It has stood up really well. I think it repeats tiles, but it's not very obvious, even at altitude. I think it's a very wise choice for an upgrade. Silberfeil did suggest a very ambitious project. All I would say, in the limitations of the time available to you of course, is could the textures about to be developed for Flanders be made transferable for Verdun and Cambrai?

2 pointsI'm 42, and I can say I've seen some in my life; probably more than most of the ppl my age. But no doubt, this 2020 is gonna stay among the "highlights", probably forever (well, at least, hopefully not, it doesn't become the first event of some tough series, which we aren't going to know until some years). Although I don't always necessarily agree with the ideas of the relevant ppl of this site, I can say for sure, that you words are honest and true - unlike most of the billions of words wasted nowadays in this age of social medias and instant information (whether it's real information or most commonly, just debris). And let me tell you just this: I'm happy this site exists. Best wishes for the new year to you and your family, and to all the members of this community.

2 pointsWell, we will say you died with your boots on. And nothing but the boots. If you had been there at the time or the lazercats and electric eels, this was the shitpost community before it was cool. The other guys drop the tanks as soon as they engage by default, even if it is a heavy on BVR. Let them bitch, chances are they will have to row the way home anyways after they decide to not fire their missiles and duel Soviet bomber tail-gunners.

2 pointsFlew past this guy on the way back at what I thought was a safe distance. Obviously not. After some serious ducking, dodging, and flat out running, I got back.

1 pointHello and Happy Happy Holidays to everyone, I wanted to take a moment and wish you all a blessed holiday season with happiness and health for you and your family throughout the new year to come in 2021. It's times like these that we look back in amazement and disbelief of the times we're living in. 2020 was hard on everyone and if things could go wrong it went wrong in 2020 with Corona Virus and Politics being front and center here in the United States. We've now spent months away from family and friends in isolation as we have learned to live in our new normal. These are unprecedented times that I for one will never be happier to put behind us. 2020 was especially hard for businesses and I feel fortunate that CA survived for now. Over all our donations last year brought in $615 to offset operating costs, thank you to all who helped out. Our advertising dwindled to almost nothing, specifically we received 28% of what we made in 2019 for advertising income as advertisers ran from expenses and businesses failed. Our subscriptions saw the lowest year on record and our cost of doing business went up 9.5% in July as costs of failing businesses got passed on to those of us who remained. This was definitely the year not to remember yet still with all the horror and red ink we consider ourselves lucky to still be standing. Yes it was bad for CA but there are many of us who saw worse times this year. People stood in voting lines and food lines here in America during a pandemic for the first time ever. We lost loved ones around the globe as we were divided with fear and misinformation. Jobs and businesses were lost all over our countries leaving tomorrow uncertain for many but throughout it all in a weird way we found some humanity. We reached out and helped where we could and lifted lives and spirits, I hope that continues. In the spirit of giving this season CA will be donating to Feeding America, Covenant House BC, The Trussell Trust UK, Banques Alimentaires FR, Tafel Deutschland, Leket Israel, and UNICEF to help feed those who need the assistance this winter. I wish we could do more but we're hoping doing our small part contributing to the whole is what matters. Merry Christmas everyone, E

1 pointInteresting idea (smaller map with more detail) - would it more closely resemble a dogfight (as opposed to campaign) simulator? To your questions: Yes - I've set up multiple FE2 installs (by theater and time frame) and spent some significant time with adding or subtracting mods to have them reflect the campaign situations. I own several flight sims and can't say I use FE2 daily, but every time I do, I thoroughly appreciate all the work that has been put into this older piece of software by talented folks attempting to make it better. Yes - I would certainly use it and would probably set it up with a separate install (much like I've done with the Caporetto terrain). But what about thinking more globally? As you've mentioned with the Flanders map, I'm sure your experience in building out these very detailed map models has yielded many areas on all of the FE2 maps that could be improved. Why not develop an "upgrade kit" that would incorporate similar improvements to all FE2 maps? Not looking to take any energy away from such a considerable effort for Flanders, but just thinking out loud...

1 pointThere isnt really a limit...except on meshes...TK said..all he says which makes sense is all that limits poly count is pc its run on...high spec and ur fine..

1 pointWant to respond to multiple posts with screenshots... @Veltro2k is that an A330 there? @russouk2004 Nice to see more militarized 737s in the sim. Desperately need P-8As... @FLOGGER23 Nice FrankenFlanker attempt. But hey if you can have thrust vectoring + the IR ball to the right you can be well on the way to a Su-35... there's a lot of Su-27s and Su-30s already in SF2.

1 pointMan, I'm really wanting to pull the trigger on this. The only problem is, I now have Stage 3 Heart Failure and I'd hate to have someone find me dead with my stick in my hand.
-
1 pointI do still play FE 2 , though not lately as I am having a break from FE/SF for a little while. Yes I use Edwards Flanders , and most definitely I would use an upgraded terrain as and when it becomes available

1 pointView File FIAT G-91R1 The Fiat G.91 is an Italian jet fighter aircraft designed and built by Fiat Aviazione, which later merged into Aeritalia. The G.91 has its origins in the NATO-organised NBMR-1 competition in 1953, which sought a light fighter-bomber "Light Weight Strike Fighter" to be adopted as standard equipment across the air forces of the various NATO nations. After reviewing multiple submissions, the G.91 was picked as the winning design of the NBMR-1 competition. The G.91 entered into operational service with the Italian Air Force in 1961, and with the West German Luftwaffe in the following year. Various other nations adopted it, such as the Portuguese Air Force, who made extensive use of the type during the Portuguese Colonial War in Angola and Mozambique. The G.91 enjoyed a long service life that extended over 35 years. The G.91 remained in production for 19 years, during which a total of 756 aircraft were completed, including the prototypes and pre-production models. The assembly lines were finally closed in 1977. The G.91 was also used as a basis for a twin-engined development: the Fiat/Aeritalia G.91Y.
