I genuinely wish I could contribute more than the $70 I have but it's been an expensive couple of months. There's definitely a few things I wouldn't have spent money on and donated instead even though I believe there's no chance of the 25 grand getting met. I remember first getting WOE back in my teens, mostly because it gave me the option to fly the A-10 (my first PC game was A-10 Cuba when I was about 5) and then finding this site very shortly after. Along with the Command and Conquer series, GTA series and the (original) Star Wars BattleFront series, the SF series is irreplaceable to me even now that I'm nearly 30. Some days it drives me mad, such as when I've spent a good hour or so building a mission in the Mission Editor only for the game to CTD repeatedly when I attempt to launch the mission. But it offers an experience that no other game on the market can. I genuinely believe that SF2 and this site have increased my knowledge in military aviation, especially when it comes to recognition of aircraft and SAMs. Many of my friends/coworkers are in the intelligence field and seem somewhat surprised when I can identify and link together a lot of military hardware that they spent learning about during their trade training.

This a new build of Mytai01's 1stGen skin for VF-114 Aardvarks durning 1965/66 Southeast Asia cruise about USS Kittyhawk as part of CVW-11 (tail code NH). This is within the time frame of the camo experiments the USN was conduction, as many of the aircraft aboard were using this 2-tone green camo. Records seem to indicate VF-114 did not. The aircraft remains in the standard Gull Gray/White scheme. With this skin set, you should have all the strike/fighter/attack aircraft of CVW-11 for this cruise. The skin is in jpg format, 2048x, from Sundowner's templates. Mytai's original decal have been 'refershed' to remove any oddites or edge 'ghosting'. Decal randomization is TRUE. Also included, within the skin folder, are all of Mytai's original research material that came with the 1stGen Package. This includes photos and other text files. Also included are slightly modified data and loadout ini that correct a few little faults. Wingfold and canopy are now manually activated, using the Standard Animations Keystrokes (tm); shift/9 for wings, shift/0 (zero) for canopy. Lighting has been tweeked so the wing lights follow the wing when folding/unfolding. A landing light and the 3 approach lights have also been added (see "Notes" for more details). When in-game, on the Loadout Screen, on the skin selection dropdown you'll see: VF-114 Aardvarks 65 (Mytai) As the Aardvarks are a unit listed in the stock squadron list ini, decals are set to make the displayed name active. Yeah I understood what you wrote earlier. It is very helpful. I gave it a second try and may have found the hardcoded value involved. Singlemission.dll double float value 3000.0. In hexadecimal code this is "00 00 00 00 00 70 A7 40". It is at offset 0x8B560 in SF2 May 2012 version. I just changed it to 10000.0, hex code "00 00 00 00 00 88 C3 40". And the overcast cloud layer was at 10km in a random single mission. But I only tested it once. XVI32 is simple tool to do this hexedit, make sure to only 'overwrite', the dll file size must stay exactly the same.

It's getting close. I am greatly indebted to HomeFries, and everyone else who worked on the A-6 Superpack, without which this US Buccaneer would not have been possible.

Think out of the box, they say. And I did. I saved a mission file, having inclement weather. Opening the .MSN file revealed the following Weather statements; [Weather] WeatherType=INCLEMENT WeatherAlt=2677.597168 WeatherThickness=480.078125 HasHighLayer=FALSE FogAmount=0.664001 ContrailAlt=8007.995605 StartWindDirection=57.425541 StartWindSpeed=7.938888 WindGustingAmount=7.626858 By changing WeatherAlt to an higher value, say 20000.0, I fixed the issue! However, what we need is for this to be applied before flying the automatically generated single missions. The way the game is coded, it always assigns such low values to WeatherAlt for Inclement and Overcast weathers. I tried to put that statement inside the terrain's environmentsystem.ini, but to no avail. Looks like I am on my own in this battle. Anyone remotely interested in those Moon and Mars terrains, please wish me luck on finding a solution.

In response to dsawan's thread (https://combatace.com/forums/topic/93782-moon-scenery/), I decided to create a realistic Moon scenery. I will use this thread to remind myself that I have one in the making, LOL. Jokes aside, I have encountered various limitations of the game engine in regards to the environmentsystem.ini file, but hopefully I will solve everything. I wish guys like @Stary were still around, their knowledge would be of help. Gravity and Inclination Angle are that of the Moon. Earth phases have been created as well. The terrain features a high quality 250m heightmap of an area between Mare Crisium and Mare Smythii. Right now, I am using some repainted objects as stand-in Space AAA guns and SAMs. I also modified two fictional aircraft available here (KF-2 and KF-1) to be used for this scenario. The scenario pits a joint alliance (United States Space Force, Russian Space Forces and People's Liberation Army Strategic Support Forces) against a fictional Settlement Defense Front, in the years 2038-2048. Those interested are invited to contribute with fictional yet "realistic" objects of a future Moon settlement, as well as new aircraft designs (IIRC X-Plane had some study aircraft designs for flight on Mars).

For the Spanish Civil War - The NiD 52 was a French designed plane built under license in Spain in the early 30's. It was used by both sides (mostly by the Republican forces) during the Civil War. I am making a version for each side. The model, decals, and skins are finished. The cockpit is built but I've only just started the skins for it. And I still have a lot of work to do with the FM, damage, etc.

I just messed with it a little. Seems the overcast cloudlayer altitude is random from about 3 km to a maximum of 5,5 km. Changed some values in the ini and even changed some defaults that I found in the EnvironmentSystem.dll file, with hex edits. But the cloudlayer altitude did not budge. The randomness makes it rather annoying to test it.

Hello all. After three days of research I've managed to compile a list of VVS squadrons that flew the M2 variant of the Fitter. Hope you enjoy!! The M2 was the first all weather day or night variant of the Fitter, it was also the last variant to see large scale service before the Mig-27 and Su25 became the more numorus soviet strike and attack aircraft. Seeing action in the Iran Iraq war and the Libyan Chad war. The M2 was built from 1976 till 1978.

View File Spanish Civil War, Heinkel He.51 The Heinkel He.51 was introduced in 1935. It was a German, one man biplane with a V-12, 750 hp engine. It was developed as a fighter and carried two machine guns mounted in the fuselage. The He.51 began serving in the Spanish Civil War in 1936, used by the Nationalists, and was used by both Spanish and German (Legion Condor) squadrons. The He.51 was a superior plane at first, but was soon outclassed by newer Soviet planes. It was then used as a ground attack plane and served in that role until the end of the war. My Heinkel He.51 includes a basic camo skin, decals, a fully functional cockpit, fuel tank, and a 10kg bomb. Instructions for installing the fuel tank and bomb are included in a separate file. I have included my skinning templates with the download. Credits Thanks to Ojcar for making the data file for the Heinkel He.51, and for providing resources and advice, especially for the weapons. Ojcar has found the data for a more accurate machine gun, we don't know where it came from, but I am including the data for the 7.9mm_MG17 machine gun for your use. Instructions for installing the gun are included in a separate file. Ojcar has added a gunsight to the He.51. He made a weapon station and loadout to add the gunsight which came with Emld's Nieuport 24 Lewis. I am including the gunsight with this download. Instructions for installing it are included in a separate file. Ojcar has also taught me how to add controls to jettison the fuel tank (along with other features, like landing gear, flaps, and wheel brakes.) I am including instructions for adding controls to First Eagles in a separate file. Installation Instructions For FE1 - Unzip the file. Move the folder named "HeinkelHe51" into your FirstEagles/Objects/Aircraft folder. You will also need to install the bomb, machine gun, and fuel tank, instructions for installing them are included as a separate file. For FE2 - Unzip the file. Move the folder named "HeinkelHe51" into your FirstEagles/Objects/Aircraft folder. Then in the FirstEagles/Objects/Decals folder, create a new folder named "HeinkelHe51". Move the folder named "D" from your Aircraft/HeinkelHe51 folder into the Decals/HeinkelHe51 folder you just made. You will also need to install the bomb, machine gun, gunsight, and fuel tank, instructions for installing them are included as a separate file. It's Sukhoi Sunday!!! Today we celebrate all the jets of Sukhoi... especially the Flanker family! Yes, the Su-27 can still lob bombs - in this case anti-runway bombs... Yup, the Flanker's a pretty decent fighter-bomber for those sunset raids...

the flak towers are on the EAW Euro WW2 terrian. As you all know, -I- should know. Truth be told, there are NO stock runways that come very close to any of the WW2 fields. Some of the larger bomber bases DID use something like the Runway4, but with differing buildings (like lots of Q-huts) Like Niels and Baff said, building airfields is a fucking nightmare (and I did most of my work waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay before Mue's TAE). === the easiest and simplest way is a simple copy/paste of the old airfield target area with the new target area statements. MAKE DOUBLE DAMN SURE YOU BACKUP UP THE TARGETS INI BEFORE MESSING WITH IT!! And that the tiling supports the "clear tile" airfield zones.

the research for this hobby can be as intense as the modding. have you tried seeing if there are social media pages for the retired Soviet pilots? i have been getting some headway on Facebook with pages for the units that flew particular aircraft in the past, and wonder if there was any Cryllic equivilent

Nice work Baffmeister! I have done that TEDIOUS S#!T also! And yes I concur, it is a royal PITA!

What you're considering would be quite a bit of work, I think. You could add new runway lods to the terrain folder then adjust the Types.ini to use the new lods instead of the stock ones. Of course now you will have to use Mues Target Area Editor to reposition all the buildings, hangars, vehicles etc. that are now out of position. Not impossible but like I said, lots of work. Regarding Major Bloodnok's first post, I have that airfield installed but I don't think it ever had a data.ini file to go with it. I put one together with taxi, take off, and parking positions but haven't done any lights yet. Here's a screenshot and the ini file attached. With the curved taxi ways it was a PITA! After finishing up with some FM tweaks for WOFFue, it's always nice to come back to the TW series of sims. The early morning atmospheric shots never cease to amaze me in SF2 (and in FE2). As you may have seen, I'm currently working on the F-35B skins, starting with the USMC. I encountered some decal problems which have been discussed in the other topic (below) and they have been solved by now (many thanks to @Wrench, @daddyairplanes, @russouk2004 for their advice). Expect some pictures soon, I will upload the mod when all the USMC operational squadrons are finished. Then, I will make some foreign skins for the F-35A&B before reworking the C skin.

It's pretty damn clear by now the Russians are going to consider any violation of Russian territory as requiring a kinetic response: (I know the above is at least pushing the envelope but I want folks to see what kinda mix of forces is ahead) Yes, you will certainly be authorized to preemptively shoot at all Russkies flying in the Yuzhno-Kurilskiy Strait after the Su-30SMs fire off their anti-ship missiles... the JDS Setogiri is trying to screen the cargo ships' morning escape from the fighting zone past the Goyomaisuido Strait.

Hi, I will translate these for you as well, but after a quick glance at the 2 pages, I still cannot make out what PX, X, P, У and PУ mean. As for the 800L drop tank, that could be loaded under the fuselage, from what I have read at www.airwar.ru, the tank was first introduced on the MiG-21SM (first flight in 1967) and was available on all subsequent variants such as SMT, M, MF, bis. I am not 100% sure, but I am willing to believe that the subject 800L drop tank was later used also on the MiG-23 and we do have that tank stock in SF2. In fact I have modified the MiG-21s in my install to carry the MiG-23 800L drop tank and it fits quite nicely, here is a proof of concept
