4 pointsOh yes, that's the truth. If you don't want some crazy fictional or nearly-fictional concepts here, shut the goddamn what-if section down. Come on, there's a guy in another topic (here's to you, @Menrva ) working on the Moon, Mars and starships firing missiles at each other and nobody is ranting like this. The other guy was builiding a Death Star map. It's all for fun.

4 pointsI don't see anything moving forward for this game except what the community is doing and we are doing it for free, as we love this game. With all respect to TK, he is thinking of the business part of the game and that is correct, nothing wrong with that, he did a great job with the game. On the other hand we think of it from what we would like to have in the game from our point of view and that is normal for any community. These two roads wouldn't join without sitting together. I wouldn't hold my breath to see anything in the near future. except our work and dedication.

SF2 SA-7 Grail / 9K32 Strela-2 MANPADS Pack 1.5 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This pack features the famous SA-7 "Grail". It is a man-portable, shoulder-fired, low-altitude, infrared guided surface-to-air missile system (MANPADS). It is widely exported and has been in use in nearly every regional conflict since 1969. Despite its operational limitations, it has been proved quite effective in the hands of tactical armies and rebel groups. During War of Attrition on 19 August 1969 Egyptian soldiers brought down an Israeli A-4H Skyhawk some miles west of the Suez Canal using Strela-2. According to some sources this might have been the first successful combat use of any MANPADS in history! Following variants are included: 9K32 Strela-2 (SA-7A, 1968) - First variant. 9K32M Strela-2M (SA-7B, 1970) - Improved variant. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ New features: - Updated missiles data which offer more realistic performance - Fuze distances have been increased since the SA-7 had lethality limitations after hitting a target. Now a target can be hit but it may return back home safely - New launch effect and sound ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Known issues: - Due to game engine limitations concering missile guidance, 9M32 (SA-7A) missile's target aspect has been set as Rear 180 despite the fact that in reality it could be fired only at the rear. After massive failed launches it became clear that it was extremely difficult to achieve a single hit by setting 9M32 as Rear 60 even when some other values such as FOV and track rate had been increased. - Helicopters have higher survival rate per hit because in some cases missiles hit the tail rotor without causing significant damage. I guess this is another game engine characteristic. - Low altitude (lower than 600-800m) performance is downgraded for current missile values. By increasing noise rejection the missile becomes capable of hitting targets in lower altitude but at the same time the single shot hit/kill probability is being increased to an unrealistic level. - Fuze distances are longer compared with the actual lethal and damage radius of the system. In SF2 world the real high explosive warhead quantity is big enough to destroy a fighter size target even in 10 meters! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As always open readme.txt first to see installation instructions and credits. Lot of research and hard work was made to make this SAM as realistic as possible. More than 2000 launches took place! Enjoy as much as you can this mod and leave comments with your in-game experience in the support topic! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- License: This is a freeware; yet it can be redistributed only in other CombatACE mod packages. 1 pointYep. Real life but you can also add some really annoying pitch stability issues I was encountering plus other projects plus summertime. Public beta test FM attached. Hopefully I can finish this thing in October. The pitch stability issues can still show up but I don't think it's any worse than ThirdWire's Vampire which has a similar issue. At certain speeds, if you give the stick a large displacement forward or back, the plane will just continue climbing or descending and not return to level flight on it's own. I spent a lot of time balancing the tail with the auto trim turned off [AutoTrimLimit=0.0] and noticed it doesn't exhibit the odd behavior with auto trim off. At present I have the auto trim set to a minimal level of 0.15 but it's still enough to get the pitch instability at certain speeds. Anyway, the FM still needs some testing/improvements but will post it here for public testing: ImpalaMkII_DATA0.95.zip NOTE: The Impala has surprisingly large weight ratings for the weapon pylons but in real life, anything over about 1600lbs of racks/weapons would have required a reduction in fuel to stay under the 12000lb MTOW.

1 pointGood for you Dave! I am in the process of selecting parts MB, Processor, RAM, and GPU for a long overdue upgrade but I am looking at AMD hardware due to the price point. The motherboard is the one part I have yet to settle upon. Once that is done I should be placing my order.

1 pointIf TK put out the Strike Fighters 2 Complete package, with Windows 10 support, on Steam and GOG for $15 or $20, I would be very, very surprised if sales and the revenue they brought in didn't exceed the game's lifetime numbers up until now in fairly short order. Personally I'd be willing to pay as much as $40, but I don't think that's a realistic price for a ten year old game, regardless of how many expansions it has - sales would plummet and it would make far less money than if it was sold for less. $100 is right out. Money would continue to trickle in for years, during Steam sales there would be a sharp increase in sales, and TK would find it much easier to fund his future projects. Hell, he might even get those $2 million he needs for SF3 - especially if some of the mainstream PC games media gave his $15 SF2 Complete Steam release the attention it would deserve. Rock, Paper, Shotgun most certainly would. But that's just my opinion. I will never understand why the game isn't already out on Steam. Wings over Europe is already there, and maybe TK found its sales on the platform disappointing. But I have to believe that SF2 Complete would do much, much better. I just don't see what he would have to lose, and there would be so much to gain.

1 pointI found i can edit a simple mission pretty quick or use the "Alt+N" (that may not be the default keys) feature to jump to the action area after takeoff. You know, reading the manual or at least the list of available commands is still a viable option even today. :)
-
1 pointIt is not really a matter of time. TK could extend it two more weeks, and neither the number of donors nor the amount donated would double. TK cast his lure based on ripples in the pond. But it was nothing but minnows nibbling on the bread.

1 pointI think the crowdfunding route should have gone on longer, to accommodate the players that want to pay but can't at the moment. Star Citizen is a good example of crowdfunding, where they play the long game as far as funding goes (and those who have kept up with it, know it's working out pretty good) and through concept sales they get the money through its member base (which off the top of my head was around two million players). But the point is that there isn't enough hype to attract the crowd that TK is looking for. It's just marketing the game through the mobile games and then returning back to the PC platform to find out that there are players willing to pay for a new patch so it will be free, but it's going to take some time to get the hype back after he chose to go mobile, which turned me off quite a bit. Nice idea having different planes (though of course some were done by the mod community) but no cockpit, no interest. Just my .02

1 pointIt is not really NVG. It is just a simple filter build in max file to give you 'feel' of 'nvgish'. Present also in latest F-16 cockpits, Harrier NA and Plus and some of the helos.

1 pointyeah got 2 in sli.....ha j/k my custom built 6gb 980 Ti does more than enough for games I use it for....every game I run on ultra settings....no game yet it has trouble with...even new cod is a breeze...BF5 runs like silk

1 pointInclement default base is 2500.0, hex code "00 00 00 00 00 88 A3 40" . It is at offset 0x8B570 in SF2 May 2012 version. It is the nature of hex edits that one can disable things and modify a little. Adding things, like a new variable to read, may technically be possible by appending new code at the end of the file, but I am not going to attempt such. To make it easier on the end user you can use a patch engine, that can automate the hexedit by generating an executable with a patch + restore button. I can send you one.

1 pointI think that low speed fight in SF2 is very dangerous, especially when you are outnumbered : It seems AI is very good at coordinating attacks from several direction, and I was often shot down by an unseen attacker : "A Mirage in your six is better than no Mirage at all"

1 pointIt's wild how many people play DCS just for the challenge, and if they had a game at the midpoint between say, Ace Combat and DCS (seems like there's a very popular sim around this place that would fit just great hmmmmmm) lot's of people would buy that game
-
1 pointI personally think SF2 belongs on Steam or GOG. Word of mouth is so key to games and unlike DCS, there isn't a steep learning curve to fly the planes. Nor a relatively few planes and especially maps.

1 pointVVS Mig-23M found a target flying at high altitude and fired a single AA-7A Apex missile. The enemy F-4E tries to evade the missile but at high altitude its maneuverability is limited... AA-7A hit and destroyed the target

1 pointWonderful! I see on the shots that you don't allow the shadows for the plane. You have to do test the shadows to avoid any open mesh to cause those awfull ropes.
